Finishing a thought at 2AM is sometimes necesary

I have not blogged for a while. I have started 3 but it is hard to finsh a thought sometimes. Let me catch everyone up.  I have had many revelations in the past few weeks.  Most them are personal about how to be true to myelf. I am the only one who can make the decisions that can bring on change.
One change is Bill and I have started setting monthly goals.  Last month we started doing the couch to 5K. Due to the weather we couldn't start till mid March.  We are in week 2.  Week 1 was pretty smooth sailing.  Week 2 has been a little harder but I have increased my distance and amount of time I am runnng instead of walking.

Last time I ran was 1 1/2 years ago.  I weighed less and had a consistent workout pattern already established when I started. My goal then was to run the Boulder Boulder a 10 K in Boulder, CO. I had 2 friends that I did the race with. One friend that challenged me and ran ahead...(she was a much faster runner)  and a another friend who stayed with me.  We helped each other keep our pace and encouraged each other to keep running all the way to the end.  I finshed running 6 miles in 1 hour 20 mins.   Knowing the race was coming helped me stay motivated.  I found a couple races in the area, one is a month away.   I figured  i could just run the cycles  that I would be running that week. The race is also going to benefit a good cause.I haven't commited yet I need to decide this week.

April's goal I am setting for myself.I am going to memorize one Bible verse a week. Three of the sermon podcasts I listen to have all been talking about how lazy we are not to memorize The Word.  We memorize everything else except what truely edifys our souls. I am taking the verses out of that weeks Bible Study passage.  I actually decided to start this week.

1 Peter 1:13-16NIV (typed from memory) Therefore, PREPARE you MIND for ACTION.  BE SELF-CONTROLED setting  your HOPE fully on the GRACE given you when Jesus Christ is reaveald.  Be OBEIDENT children...DO NOT BE CONFORMED to the evil desires you had when you lived in IGNORANCE.. [But just as he who called you is HOLY] be HOLY [in ALL you do] For it is written "BE HOLY for I AM HOLY".   (section in brackets I had to look)

MOTHERHOOD IS GREAT!

Our baby has hit the 4 months. The changes that we are seeing in her are astounding. Milestones include: rolling over and grabbing things with a great deal of ease.  She is also getting quite determined to get things that are out of reach.  If I put something behind her feet she can scoot a little ways to get a hold of it.  She laughs at the simplest things.
We are dealing with one  issue still:  her not wanting to take a bottle. The funny thing is she is so interested in food.  She is sittng in a high chair watching us eat.  When I am feeding the little girl I take care of she reaches for the spoon so I think she is gearing up to start eating solids. The doctor suggested we wait for the 5th month to start giving her cereal and baby food in the 6th month starting with vegtables.  My plan is to make my own baby food.  I am sure I will be blogging about that when the time comes.
  • So there are a few of the highlights...hopefully I will be better about blogging in the future.

I NEED SOME HELP FROM ALL YOU MOMS OUT THERE!!

I need some HELP!!!

The problem all began on Tuesday.  I came home from Mom's Bible Study and Bill and Charleigh were laying on the bed.  Charleigh was asleep and Bill looked perplexed.  I asked how it went.  "I think something possessed my baby."  She had cried for an hour and a half.  It all started when Bill tried to give her a bottle.

We decided that maybe  we needed to give her a bottle more often so that she will take one when we go on date nights. So today I took  a bottle  with me to meet an old friend for lunch.  I was so glad I didn't try to give it to her at the restaurant because of what happened while I cooked dinner.  Bill tried to give her a bottle and the  same melt down occurred.  I also tried and she absolutely refused.

I wondered if anyone out there had any other ideas of how to get her to take a bottle again.  If you do PLEASE leave a comment, soon!!!

Sink your teeth into this!!!

Went to the dentist today.  I had a cavity in my right hand front top molar. I had not had a tooth filled in 10 years.  At my last dentist appointment they asked me how long the filling they had to pry out  of my tooth was there.  I had no idea!!!

So as I sat there with the dentists hands in my mouth and started wondering about the history  of dentistry.  What did the people who lived in Bible Times do?  Expecially those that lived to be 900+ years?  Did they just lose their teeth and have to gum thier food for the rest of thier days?  And who invented all these crazy tools they use while you sit in the  chair totally unable to escape?  Then there is the whole whole fact that they didn't have a local anestitia back then so they did feel the pain of the tools used to penetrate and extract their teeth.  This makes you want to go the dentist doesn't it.

Then my thoughts went to the garden of Eden.  Did God tell Adam and Eve how to take care of their pearly whites before he kicked them out of the garden? Did he tell them that  when they had children they would be born toothless and would get their chompers later?

When my thoughts returned to the here and now.  I realized technology had changed over the years.  They drilled with two drills. Then I had a weird sensations and smell as the put something in my mouth.  They packed the area and then an aparatus with an ultraviolet light  went into the dark open space.  I was told not to eat on the right side for 24 hours  so what ever they stuck in my mouth could set up.  WOW!  That is a long time.

So tonight I am eating soup (as best as I can because my lip is still numb) and other soft things instead of devouring pizza with the girls at Bible study.  All my questions will have to wait till I get to heaven. For now I will just have to be glad that I don't have any decay in the hole on my head.

My baby is a Rock Star

Bill and I ventured out on our first Kansas road trip yesterday.  It was also the first trip with Charleigh.  She exceeded our expectations on the way here and at the wedding last night.  She was shown off by her aunts.  Everyone kept telling us how beautiful she is ( like we didn't already know).  Several people were amazed that the whole night they didn't hear a peep from her.  She slept through the ceremony which made me breathe a little easier  since we were sitting in the front row.  One of Bill's aunts thought it was the processional music that lulled her to sleep.  During the reception the exact opposite was true. The loud rythmic thumping of the base and the flashing lights on the ceiling kept her very alert. Once the music stopped I fed her and she drifted off to sleep for about 1/2 hour while we cleaned.  Then sat in her car seat and played with her sunshine lighting bug toy that hands from the handle.  We got home she ate and fell asleep again and slept 7 1/2 hours and is happy this morning.

Thank you Jesus for making my baby so amazing!!!  I have to give you all the glory because you made her so wonderfully!!!

I will add a picture later

Pains from the Past...Ashes to Beauty

Have  you ever seen the show "Who do you think You Are?"  I had always heard you don't know who you really are until you find out where "you" have been.  In other words you are shaped by things that have happened before so you better know what has happened in the past.  During collegeI was asked to  dig into the past twice.  Once on the history of my family and once on the history of the town I was living in at the time.  Both papers were very interesting and gave some insight into the present.  So I think there is some truth to that. But, as I watched two episodes of the show I say one celeberity find  great stories of courage and overcoming and the other one find out her grandfather was a lying unfaithful piligamist.  Bill rebuked me for watching the show and took me to the scriptures for his defense.
1 Timothy 1:4 and Titus 3:9 both specifically state we are to stay away from "endless geneologies" because they bring up questions rather than building our understanding of who God and believing on him in faith.  This stirred up all kind of emotion in me as my dad's side of the family has researched back to when our ancestors came over from Enland and now have a museum on the homestead property honoring them and thier contribution to the industry of farming. I told him I would do some research in the matter to settle the graplings of my restless emotions.  So in the wee small hours I am wrestling with this matter.

Let's say that you are looking into your past and you find great things it would build you up that is great! For sake of debate what if you found something bad and unexpected it does stir up questions.  Then there are the issues of what we call in christainese generational sins.  Things that are carried down from generation to generation. Does that lead to a self fulfilling prophecy?  As I graple through all this I know that every family has those things they tuck away hoping that noone will ever see, should those things stay hiddenor is there benefit to knowing so you can come out swining against that issue?
I am coming to think that is all in how you handle it.  You can dwell on  it and let it consume you which in our human nature that is what we tend to do; or we can hold it up with open hands to God.  We can forgive the hurt.  We can pray against the effect that have rippled through the generations.  And if we have believed on Christ we can look to the HOPE we find in HIM.  Because ultimately what is done is done and I can only focus on the here and now and hope that the future is brighter than the past.  The only person I can truely change is me...and hope that that change has a positive effect on the future generations.
So I think I am agreeing with my husband.  It is good to be aware of issues BUT as far as focusing and dwelling on those issues of the past is detremental because it rocks the foundation of FAITH and how we influence others.   I think that is what Paul meant in Philipians when he said
" Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things
which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. (3:13-14)"
and
"Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. . Be anxious for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace
of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest,
whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if  there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these
things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you (4:4-9)
My ressponse believing God is in control.  He knows what happened in the past and what will happen in the future. My job is to live in the present as a "soldier for God"putting on  the armor He provided and diligently fighting  the good fight and praying dilegently for my family.  Being a wife and a mom seems to increase the awareness of  the basics.  They are vital to who the next generation is to become.
